Facial Cosmetic and Reconstructive Surgery Cosmetic surgery is becoming more and more popular throughout the United States. Each year, over five million people have surgery to improve their appearance. A survey taken during the 1980's indicates that over 40% of Americans are dissatisfied with the shape of their noses, and as a result, the nose is the most common feature people have changed by plastic surgery. This same survey also found that almost 30% of all cosmetic surgery is performed on men, and that percentage is increasing.
